Info will find you
April 3rd, 2009 — Uncategorized
In his presentation “From Knowledge to Knowledge-able: Harnessing new media for new media university”, Michael Welsh used the phrase “info will find you” to describe the future of information and media on the web.
This is what I believe the “killer app” of the semantic web will be. Not just better search engines, but widgets and smart tools that automatically aggregate other web content based on your blog postings, your interests, your travel plans,…
(I wasn’t aware that he is also the creator of the “The Machine is Us/ing Us” video on YouTube.)

Google trends for web 3.0
February 4th, 2009 — Uncategorized
I just watched a ‘webinar’ on mobile learning by Gary Woddill from Brandon-Hall (http://brandon-hall.com/garywoodill/?p=112). On one of the pages linked from his blog I noticed a Google trends (http://www.google.com/trends) graphic. What a great tool!
The graphic for web 3.0 is .
Not a huge uptick for quite a while. I have some new thoughts on it, that I will try to write up in the next few weeks.
Free CSS book at sitepoint.com
November 24th, 2008 — Uncategorized
sitepoint is giving away free pdf-downloads of one of their books, The Art & Science of CSS. Using twitter as a distribution approach is also new to me.
Also check out their blogs and other books. I usually find interesting information on web design and development on their site.
Web Resources for Web 3.0 talk at CAC Fall 2008 (updated)
November 22nd, 2008 — Uncategorized
Last Wednesday I presented at the Corporate Advisory Council meeting for the Institute of Interactive Technologies. The topic was ‘Web 3.0′. Although the term has showed up more frequently in conferences and on the web, there is no clear understanding yet, what major change will make us refer to a new ‘version number’. Most likely it will be as it happened with web 2.0: we will know it after it happens. My talk focused on the semantic approach and Dr. Kapp talked about the virtual/3D-web as one of the possible directions for the use of the web.
(Updated 11/29 with some new links)
Here are the Web resources I used and found. I am cleaning up the ppt slides, so that I can post those later.
Web 3.0 CAC talk
November 19th, 2008 — Uncategorized
Is there a web 3.0?
If yes, what will it be? The virtual web? The semantic web?
In this presentation I look at current trends for the next version of the web.
Slides and/or notes will be posted later.
